The Nintendo DSI XL changes the perception of consoles

The Nintendo range of devices has made a huge impact on the market place in the last few years, however, it appears that the new DSI XL is about to make an even bigger splash. While it appears to be essentially the same console as the previously released model the DSI, there are a few changes that have got people talking.

Gamers are not overly thrilled with the details that have been released by Nintendo so far, with many being critical of the specifications. But Nintendo are appealing to a new demographic and hoping that they will be the next biggest users of the console. While the Nintendo DS range has been very popular with children and young adults, it has been a hit and miss with adults. This is because of the still widely held view that gaming consoles are anti-social. For the most part in a physical sense, a small hand-held device is an anti-social media.

So to appease adults and make the console even more popular, the screen size has been increased considerably and it comes with pre-loaded games that include part of the brain training series. Nintendo are saying that the new DSI XL console can be used by the whole family and that the bigger screen makes it easier to share in gaming and social networking. So for gamers that are stating the console is really not different; they are correct but it is very different in its concept for the older generation.

There is no doubt that Nintendo has tapped into a new market with the DSI XL and even if it does not change the way gaming is done, it is going to change the way that adults think about consoles.
